FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is microblading different from a tattoo?

A tattoo is permanent and does not allow for definition. It goes deep into the skin (the dermis). Microblading, however, goes into the top layer of the skin (the epidermis). It is semi-permanent and needs to be touched up. Delicate strokes are used to create a more refined, natural look.

Is microblading painful?

Unlike permanent tattooing, microblading is less invasive and you will feel little to no pain. A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area. You can expect to have some redness, similar to a light sunburn, as well as slight swelling after the procedure.

What is in the pigment you use?

I use only organic pigments by Tina Davies Professional and Brow Daddy blends that contain clean, natural ingredients that are safe for all skin types. The pigments heal true to color, and are never ashy or gray. They can easily cover old work. You can be assured these high-quality pigments will heal gorgeously and last longer on your skin.

Who is a great candidate for microblading?

The best candidates are those with skin that is not too oily or sensitive. That includes those with dry skin, normal to combination skin, or normal to oily skin. You must be over the age of 18 to have it done.

Who is not a candidate for microblading?

If your skin is thick and oily with large pores, or super thin and sensitive, powder or combo brows may be a better choice. Also if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have used accutane in the last year, you would not be eligible for microblading. I will take the time to access your skin and your brows and recommend the best technique for you.

What do you do to ensure safety and cleanliness?

Cleanliness and safety for my clients is my top priority. I take sanitation and sterilization very seriously. Before and after every client the bed, tray, table and chair are wiped down and sanitized with medical-grade disinfectants. I adhere to strict health codes and safety guidelines. During microblading, I wear gloves at all times. Everything on the microblading tray is sterile and disposable and is thrown away after each client.

Are you able to touch-up my brows even if I didn’t have them done by you?

You will need to schedule a consultation with me to determine if a touch-up can be done as well as the cost.

How long does it take?

The entire process takes about 2-3 hours. During that time, your brows will be shaped and styled.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

  • Avoid all caffeine 24 hrs before your appointment

  • Avoid any blood thinners and pain medication 72 hours before your appointment (ibuprofen, Tylenol, etc.)

  • Do not work out the day of your appointment

  • Do not drink alcohol within 24 hrs of your appointment

  • Avoid using retina/retinol products near the brow area for 2 weeks before your appointment

  • No waxing 1-3 days before

  • No chemical peels

  • Let me know if you have previous work done on your brows

How do I care for my brows after my appointment?

  • For the first several hours immediately after your appointment, pat your brows dry every 30 to 60 min to keep any lymph/fluid drainage off

  • Cleanse your brows for the first time right before you go to bed and apply your first layer of balm

  • Gently cleanse every morning and night for 10 days

  • Apply a fresh layer of balm with clean hands 2-3 times a day for 10 days

  • Absolutely no sun, sweat or steam (including pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers)

How long does it take to heal? What is my recovery time?

You can expect your brows to take about 10-14 days to fully heal. After that, you can get back to your normal daily routine.

How can I make my brows last longer?

Using sunscreen daily will help prevent fading. If you tan, use products for acne, or those that contain AHA or glycolic acid that thin the skin, you will increase cell turnover and may need a touchup sooner.

How often will I need a touch-up?

It all depends on your lifestyle and skin type. I recommend you come back between 12 and 18 months for a touch up to keep your color looking fresh.

What if I’m not happy with my brows?

It is my goal to ensure every client is happy with their brows. If you are not happy for any reason, I am willing to help in any way that I can. Slight changes or adjustments can be made depending on the circumstances. I will gladly do a free removal if needed within the first 72 hours after your appointment. Unfortunately, I do not offer refunds for microblading, unless an error was made on my part. I will do everything I can to find a solution and make things better.

What is your cancelation policy?

A credit card is used to hold an appointment in case of a no show or cancellation. Certain services also require a deposit to book. Deposits go towards the final cost of the apt, but are non refundable if cancelled with less than 48 hours notice. An appointment can be rescheduled if more than 48 hours notice is given. If your appointment is canceled less than 48 hours beforehand, a 50% service fee will be charged to the credit card on file. If you are more than 15 minutes late, or don’t show for your appointment, 100% of the service fee will be charged to the credit card on file. Multiple no shows or late cancelations will result in a discontinuation of services.
